CAMBRIDGE—After eight rounds, Brayton Palmer, a sixth grade student at Cambridge Elementary School, was declared the winner of the Cambridge Spelling Bee.


 After eight rounds, Brayton Palmer, a sixth grade student at Cambridge Elementary School, was declared the winner of the Cambridge Spelling Bee.

 Palmer, son of Scott and Lisa Palmer of Cambridge, correctly spelled “mistletoe.”

 Patty Brown, daughter of Chris and Karen Miller of Cambridge, placed second and Tanner Hein, daughter of Mark and Michelle Hein, finished third.

 Other participants were Caitie Allen, Derek Larsen, Olivia McDonough, Savannah Walker, Mary Hammer, Austin DeKezel, Alexa Anderson and Ricky Nelson.

 Palmer will participate in the Henry County Spelling Bee at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Black Hawk College, East Campus, Kewanee, and the Rock Island Argus/Moline Dispatch Spelling Bee in March.
