Wethersfield welcomed nine high school boys and girls track teams on Friday May 6, 2011 for the varsity Lincoln Trail Conference meet. The Ridgewood boys team found themselves bringing home seventh place, as the rival Mercer County Golden Eagles earned 125 points and first place in conference. The Lady Spartans scored 32 points, leaving them in eighth place, falling to first place Wethersfield/Annawan.

The Ridgewood boys team found themselves bringing home seventh place, as the rival Mercer County Golden Eagles earned 125 points and first place in conference. The Lady Spartans scored 32 points, leaving them in eighth place, falling to first place Wethersfield/Annawan.
Sophomore Matt Welch found much success, earning himself a fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.49 seconds and a second place finish in the 200-m dash with a time of 23.70.
In the 400-m dash, senior Kyle Lookingbill received a time of 56.02, coming in seventh place.
With a time of 5:04.81, junior Julian Trotman earned himself a fifth place finish in the men’s 1600-m run.
Freshman Christopher Bowles acquired an eleventh place finish in the 3200-m run with a time of 13:07.91, respectively.
Fellow freshman Jorge Urbina snagged himself a sixth place finish and two points for his team in the 300-m hurdles, completing his race in 45.14.
Scoring three points for their team, Leander, McCreary, Swanson and Miller ran the men’s 4x100-m relay in 47.14, earning them a fifth place finish. Leander, McCreary, Miller, and Welch comprised the third place 4x200-m relay team that ran their race in 1:35.35.
The Spartan’s 4x400- relay team composed of Lookingbill, McCreary, Miller, and Welch, also earned a bronze medal with a time of 3:41.92.
In the high jump, senior Jared Swanson and junior Kevin Miller earned third and fifth place for the Spartan’s with successful jumps of both 5-10 and 5-8.
Taking home eighth place in the long jump, senior Ryan McLaughlin had a leap of 18-1 3/4 and Aaron Leander snatched the fourth place ribbon for men’s triple jump with a distance of 38-2 1/2.
Junior Ben Smith received a gold medal and an eighth place finish in the shot put and the discus throw. Smith heaved the shot 50-2, scoring his team ten points, prior to a 112-2 discus throw.
The girls track team had Molly Smith placing third in the 100-m dash with a time of 13:07. Top finisher in the 200-m was Kelly Franck at 10th place with a time of 31:28. Franck also had a ninth place finish in the 400-m for Ridgewood with a time of 1:10.00.
Senior Jessica Nail scored a huge first place finish in the 800-m with a new school record time of 2:33.18. She also turned in a fifth place finish in the 1600-m with a time of 6:05.20.
In the 100-m hurdle, Kendall McKie had a seventh place finish turning in a time of 19:42. McKie also turned in a fourth place finish in the 300-m hurdles with a time of 55:06.
In the team relays, Ridgewood finished eighth in the 4x100-m with a time of 1:00.12. Team members were Brooklyn Wexell, Kayla VanWatermeulen, Humphrey and Clark. The 4x200-m finished seventh with a time of 2:09.49 team members were; Molly Jo Smith, Anderson, Kalli Humphrey, Aly Smith.
The 4x400-m meter team of Nail, Humphrey, Franck and McKie finished 6th with a time of 4:46.92. The 4x800-m group of Stevenson, Britt, Becca Sack and Walker finished sixth with a time of 14:11.60.
Ridgewood top finishers in field events were Emily Peterson seventh place. In the high jump with a 4-4 jump. Haley Schmoll was top finisher for the team in the long jump with a distance of 12-10 1/4 for 12th place. Triple jump had Brooklyn Wexell turning in a team best distance of 25-10 for an 11th place finish. Freshman Jasmine Jefko scored a sixth place finish in the shot put with a heave of 28-3. The discus had Sammi Stevenson finish 10th with a toss of 64-1.
