Cambridge first grade students enjoyed their own Super Bowl™ party Friday, Feb. 3, at the elementary school.  The students had to answer questions about Penguins.  If they had  the correct answer, they were given a treat and got to move their football down the field.  First grade teacher Christi Reed was one of the referees.  First grade teacher Nikki Ernst passed out the treats.  Competing against each other were Rachel Stropes and Brooklyn Johnson. Friday was also pajama day in the two classrooms.

DAR to honor high school "Good Citizen" award-winners Feb. 12

Five area high-school students have been named “Good Citizens” by the Geneseo Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The students will be honored Sunday, Feb. 12, at a  1 p.m. Youth Awards Day ceremony at the Geneseo Community Center.

First and second grade classes held a sticker contest Friday, Jan. 27, at the Cambridge Elementary School.  Students from each class had to put 100 stickers on their teacher the fastest.  Chad Hamerlinck’s class won the contest between the four classes.

Cambridge students taking part in risk assessment

Some Cambridge students will take part in an Illinois Youth Survey, Cambridge High School principal Robert Reagan told the school board.

    The statewide survey will help better understand youth risks and protective behaviors as they relate to student problems and academic success.

School board members approved the 2011 levy Thursday, Dec. 15, prior to the Cambridge School Board meeting. During the meeting, the levy was adopted. It includes a tentative tax rate of $4.784 per $100 assessed valuation, unchanged from last year according to Tom Akers, Cambridge School District superintendent.

Invenergy begins erecting wind turbines

Cambridge schools plan to boost reading, math scores

The Cambridge School Board accepted the new school improvement plan explained by both Cambridge principals, Shelly Logston and Robert Reagan. “We did not meet last year’s target but we have a plan to meet it this year,” Reagan said. “Our focus is reading and math.”
