    The SHINE class at the Cambridge Junior High School is teaming up with Mel Foster  Company in Geneseo to support another year of "Treasure for Troops."

    Donations are needed to send care packages to service men and women currently stationed in areas of conflict. "Treasure for Troops" started in Geneseo in 2004 and has grown tremendously since then.

    Items needed for the packages include: After Bite, antibiotic ointment, aspirin/ Tylenol, baby wipes, Ziplock bags, beef jerky, breakfast bars, bubble gum, ketchup (in small packets or sizes only), coffee creamer (in small packets or sizes only), collapsible cups, combs and hairbrushes, comic and paperback books, cotton balls, deodorant (in small sizes only), dental floss and toothbrushes, disposable cameras, ear plugs, envelopes, and writing tablets, eye drops, flip flops, fly strips and fly swatters, Ramen noodles, foot powder (in small sizes only), powder gatorade, powdered hot chocolate, portable CD players and music CDs, socks, soups (small cans), sunblock, wrap around sunglasses, holiday decorations, movie DVD’s and fruit cups and pudding cups.

    Other items include tissues, puzzle books (crosswords, etc), greeting cards, hard candy, ice tea mix (individual packs), imodiom and Pepto Bismol (small sizes only), instant coffee and teabags, sweetened Kool-Aid, licorice, lollipops, Lunchables, mini flashlights, mosquito wipes, mouth wash, nail clippers and files, Neosporin, Nerf toys (footballs),  paint by number brushes (small - used for gun cleaning), pencil sharpeners, pens and pencils, Q-tips, pipe cleaners, playing cards (UNO, etc.),  microwave popcorn, PopTarts, shampoo (in small sizes), shaving cream (in small sizes), single serving pasta, batteries (all sizes), toothpaste (in small sizes), throat drops, Tums/Rolaids, snacks (chips, pretzel, crackers, nuts, etc. in small sizes) jigsaw puzzles, hand sanitizer, purchased cookies, waterless hand soap and
battery operated fans.

    No aerosols, glass or chocolate will be accepted.

    Monetary donations are needed to help cover postage and packing supply costs. Mel Foster Co. in Geneseo is also seeking addresses for service men and women currently serving overseas in areas of conflict for their Treasure for Troops campaign. Names and addresses of servicemen and women with local connections who would appreciate receiving the items are also needed.    Notes of support and encouragement are also appreciated and will be included in each package sent.

    Items may be dropped off at either the Cambridge Elementary School or the Cambridge Jr./Sr. High School through the month of September. Members of the first quarter SHINE class will be Meridith Logston, Gauge Haley, Alexis Johnson, Marissa Johnson, Marion Lodge, Andrew Ruhnow and Sophia Sandoval. Pat Warren will teach the class.
