County Seat's Celebrity Night on Friday, Nov. 11, was the first of what the business hopes will be many special nights for County Seat and the Cambridge community.
County Seat employees and friends of the community rallied to raise over $1,800 for kids in Cambridge. Caring Hearts has big wishes to fill, and County Seat's fundraiser will help make dreams come true.
The night began at 5 p.m. with guest waiters and waitresses serving patrons under the watchful eyes of the normal waitstaff who gave of their patience, time and tips to this amazing cause.
Guest bartenders had a great time serving and getting the Caring Hearts Christmas word out to customers. Friends of County Seat and Caring Hearts mingled throughout the establishment selling raffle tickets for some amazing prizes and gift baskets.
Later that evening, Karaoke was enjoyed by all and a feeling of giving was definitely in the air.
“County Seat and the celebs worked miracles for our kids that night,” said Shelly Logston, Cambridge Elementary School principal. “ A huge thank you goes out to Gail Ebens, Karen VanDyke and Tammi Danneels, co-owners of County Seat, for seeing a need and following through to make the night happen. A lot of preparation went into the night. They started thinking about ways to give back to the community.”
When Logston got that first call from Gail, she was ecstatic.
"This was an amazing way to raise funds but, more importantly, get the word out that our kids and families need some assistance here in Cambridge," Logston said. “Employees of County Seat were very generous in working hard to make the night both fun and lucrative for all. Amber Davidson, Kristin Helg, Lindsay Meyers, Amanda Sedam and Mike Sullivan kept smiles on their faces and worked hard to keep everyone organized and moving in the right direction.”
Logston also wanted to thank their volunteer celebrities: Kippy Nelson, Dan Collier, Darren Johnson, Gary Hancock, Jim Crouch, Dwaine VanMeenen, Bonita Vincent, Jana Stenzel, Jason Stenzel, Sandy Hull, Kathy Nelson, countless Cambridge CUSD 227 staff, and numerous community members for giving their time and hearts to this cause.
The raffle was also a wonderful success and nice gifts were given as prizes. Farm Service, Best Travel, Cerno's Bar and Grill, Fareway in Geneseo, The Cellar, Invenergy, Deere Run, G&M Distributor, Hair Etc., Jana Stenzel, Designs on the Boulevard, Coffee Break-Geneseo, Sweet Pea's, Breedlove's Sporting Goods, Springfield Armory, The Barn Restaurant in Atkinson, and Cambridge Car Corner.

"This was a huge success for our first try and we learned so much, " said Gail Ebens. "But one thing is for certain, we felt great about giving back to this community and we will definitely be doing this again. When you work with such amazing individuals, making things like this happen is an exciting adventure. We want to give to the community back the support they have shown us since we began."
"There is no way to give enough thanks to all who came up to support Caring Hearts that evening. I hope, in some way, the patrons of County Seat feel the warmth they helped to provide to our children by helping to provide coats, boots, tennis shoes, mittens, hats, needed clothing, pajamas, socks, toys, books and food to our families in need," concluded Logston.
Donations are still being accepted at the Cambridge Elementary School for the Caring Hearts program for anyone who would like to help. This year, Caring Hearts will help 64 children and 22 families.
