With smiling eyes, the reformed delinquent whose life was among those portrayed in the movie “Freedom Writers” on Friday, Jan. 22, engaged the student body of Cambridge Junior-Senior High School.

Cambridge teacher Dawn Lewis recruited Manuel Scott to speak at Cambridge after a conference on “Raising Student Achievement” in St. Charles last month where he was the keynote speaker.

Like a skilled teacher, Scott began by getting students comfortable with standing up in their gym seats as he threw out different things they might identify with. A variety of dances, music, careers.

For additional details, see the Jan. 29 issue of the Cambridge Chronicle.
