Last year, an antique tractor show was held in conjunction with Cambridge Main Street Fest and Car Show. This year, the show will be expanded and held separately according to Karen Hutchinson, one of the show’s organizers.
The show will be held Saturday, Aug. 7, in downtown Cambridge with registration beginning at 7 a.m. and the show running from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Last year, we had close to 200 antique tractors,” Hutchinson stated. “We want to expand that number and add some new things to the lineup this year.”
New this year will be “hit- and-miss motors,” old motors that were used for washing machines, wells pumps and other things; a semi tractor show and a farm tractor show.
Kevin Echelberger of Cambridge is in charge of the “hit-and-miss motors.” They will be displayed at Cambridge Heritage Park on the corner of Locust and Prospect Street.
The antique tractors will be displayed in Veterans Memorial Park right across the street from Heritage Park.
“Last year, Cambridge mayor James Crouch, chose a Massey Harris tractor as his favorite tractor of the show,” said Hutchinson. “I wonder which tractor will be selected this year?”
The semi tractor and farm tractor show will be held on Prospect Streets.
A pedal pull also will be held. Registration starts at 12:30 p.m. near the antique tractor pull with the pull set to begin at 1 p.m. Everyone who enters the pedal pull will be entered into a drawing to win an actual pedal pull tractor.
There will also be a pedal pull tractor show for anyone wishing to display them.
Several other children’s activities are slated throughout the day including a corn box, similar to a sand box, provided by Michlig Agri Center, Cambridge. Some other old fashioned games are planned like a potato sack race, egg and spoon race and possibly an obstacle course.
“We are also hoping to have some new farm equipment on display which can be purchased,” stated Hutchinson. “The group is also working to obtain craft vendors and other ag vendors.”
A number of local organizations will be selling food items. The Cambridge Historical Society will be selling pulled pork sandwiches, homemade pie and ice cream. The Henry County Fair Association will be selling hot dogs and brats as a fund-raiser. The Cambridge Champs 4-H Club will be selling root beer floats and other drinks.
