Bishop Hill to host antique car show on Sunday, July 25

    Summer is the ideal season to meander along the streets of Bishop Hill and allow its historical and cultural appeal to soak in by way of museums, shops, restaurants, artisans and a host of celebrations and other events that beckon visitors to step into the “Utopia on the Prairie.”

    Antique cars are the focus of the Sunday, July 25, Antique Car Show, which attracts more than 100 antique and classic cars and their owners plus several hundred visitors enamored of the cars of yesteryear, which will encircle the park with registration from 9 a.m. to noon followed by mid-day judging and 3 p.m. awards.

    Saturday, Aug. 14, through Sunday, Aug. 15, a clay and fiber fest will be held. A pottery workshop will be offered. Demonstrations of pottery styles, spinning, weaving and broom making will be held. Hands-on activities include weaving and spinning will also be featured. On the Saturday the 14, a soup supper and ice cream social will be held in village park to benefit the Bishop Hill Heritage Association.

    VagenHall Galleri will hold a special exhibit and contest.

    Sponsors of the fest include the Prairie Arts Center and the Bishop Hill Heritage Association.
