A storm with straight line winds whipped through Cambridge Wednesday, June 23, shortly after 5 p.m.

The winds damaged tents, trees and concessionaires’ facilities at the Henry County Fairgrounds in Cambridge where the county fair was underway.

Volunteers were busy Wednesday evening cleaning up after the storm, but by 7 p.m. fair officials had canceled all evening fair activities, including a demolition derby because of the condition of the fairgrounds.

The derby was rescheduled to Saturday, June 26, and combined with the derby set for that evening.

Several trees were damaged during the storm and the water run off was a problem everywhere.

If June seemed like a rainy month, it was. There was measurable precipitation on 20 of the 30 days.
