Driscoll chosen to reign over Henry County Fair

Jackie Driscoll of Cambridge was crowned the 2010 Miss Henry County Fair on June 22 at the fairgrounds in Cambridge.

Driscoll, age 19, was selected as this year's new reigning queen from a field of 19 contestants.

Gabrielle Dye, 18, of Geneseo, was first runner-up, while Dana Brock, 17, of Cambridge, was second runner-up.

Driscoll is currently a junior at Monmouth College where she is majoring in history. She is a member of the Blue Key National Honor Society and the Monmouth College cheerleading squad.

Driscoll also volunteers as a soccer coach and for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization in addition, to volunteering for the humane society and the local food pantry.

The new queen is employed by the Universal Cheerleading Association and the Monmouth College admissions office.

Driscoll is the daughter of Mike Driscoll and Jamie Lang.

The new queen also received the physical fitness award, and tied with first runner-up Gabrielle Dye as recipients to receive the interview award.

Dye is the daughter of Edward  Dye, of Geneseo, and Darcy Dye, of Silvis.

She is a 2009 graduate of Geneseo High School. She is attending Black Hawk College working toward a future career as a dental hygienist.

The first runner-up was also awarded the evening gown award.

Second runner-up Dana Brock will be a senior at Cambridge High School this year. She is the daughter of Tom and Sandy Brock.

Brock also was named the winner of the photogenic award.

Laurel Whitford, 19, of Cambridge, received the speech award and received the most votes for the Miss Congeniality Award.

Claudia VanOpdorp, 12, of Annawan, was crowned the 2010 Junior Miss Henry County Fair. VanOpdorp is the daughter of Tony and Juliet VanOpdorp, of Annawan. She also received the speech and evening gown awards.

In a related background note, both Driscoll and VanOpdorp served as former reigning Henry County Fair royalty back in 2004. Driscoll was crowned the Junior Miss Henry County Fair Queen and VanOpdorp was named the winner in the Little Princess pageant.

Danielle Weber, 14, of Geneseo, was first runner-up. She is the daughter of Dan and Traci Weber.

Weber tied with contestant Aurora Westerlund, 14, of Geneseo, for the interview award.

Second runner-up in the junior miss division was 12-year-old Jamie Franck, of Cambridge. She is the daughter  of Bob and Julie Franck.

Megan Reed, 12, of Cambridge, received the Miss Congeniality Award, and Danielle Strouss, 13, of Geneseo, won the photogenic award.

There were 25 contestants in the pageant for girls 12 to 14 years old.

Kammie Ludwig, 6, of Geneseo, was crowned the 2010 Little Miss Henry County Fair. She is the daughter of Justin and Jenny Ludwig.

Avery Noble, 7, of Andover, was first runner-up. She is the daughter of Lance and Christine and also received the interview award.

Second runner-up was Olivia Egert, 6, of Geneseo, daughter of Ryan and Penny Egert.

Additonal award winners were: Mary Michelle Mohr, 5, of Cambridge, party dress; Miss Congeniality, Keagan Rico, 7, of Annawan; Carmen Stahl, 5, Cambridge, photogenic; and preliminary pop question award was received by contestant Shannon Evans, 7, of Geneseo.

There were 25 youngsters in the pageant for 5 to 7-year-olds.
