CAMBRIDGE—Illinois State Police will investigate if there were any criminal violations in the removal of items from personnel files at the sheriff’s department, according to a request from Henry County State’s Attorney Terry Patton.
CAMBRIDGE—The Village of Cambridge appears likely to put in a new monitoring well at its closed landfill. Doing so might save up to $2,000 this spring on lab costs for water samples with even more savings in years to come.
ANDOVER—Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover, has a new pastor. Coming from the Milwaukee suburb of Wauwatosa, Wis., Jan Veseth began moving into the parsonage on Tuesday, March 2. She will begin her duties on March 15, with her first sermon on March 21.
ANDOVER—To raise money for Andover’s 175th anniversary festival this summer, a pie contest and auction will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 14, in Luther Hall at Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover.
WOODHULL—Both Cambridge and AlWood residents turned out on Sunday, Feb. 28, to welcome the Ridgewood team that finished third in the state girls basketball tournament.

NORMAL—On Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Redbird Arena, Normal, Ridgewood challenged Cowden-Herrick-Beecher City (CHBC) for third place in the IHSA Class 1A State Girls’ Basketball Tournament.
CAMBRIDGE—The Social Hour Club will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, in the home of Barbara Wigant. Readers for the meeting will be Barbara Robinson and Natalie Schieferdecker.
CAMBRIDGE—Henry County is the sixth healthiest county in Illinois, according to a recent study ranking the health outcomes of nearly all the counties in Illinois. “It's unusual to see a rural community with such high health outcomes,” stated Gail Ripka, Health Department administrator. “Most of the other high ranking counties are the affluent suburbs of Chicago."
BLOOMINGTON—Third-ranked Ridgewood defeated ninth-ranked Colfax Ridgeview 70-58 in the super-sectional game on Monday, Feb. 22, at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. The win qualified the Spartans for the state tournament on Friday, Feb. 26, and Saturday, Feb. 27.
BUSHNELL—Brian Norberg of Ridgewood qualified for the state 3-point shooting contest with his performance in the sectional finals on Friday, March 5, at Bushnell-Prairie City High School.

BLOOMINGTON—Cambridge graduate Craig Anderson is joining the Illinois High School Association staff as an assistant executive director. Anderson graduated from Cambridge in 1987. He will finish the school year as the athletic director at Washington High School. The IHSA board approved Anderson’s hiring in a conference call on Monday, Feb. 22, according to executive director Marty Hickman.
CAMBRIDGE—A new local land grant entity, if it comes about, could further nature conservation and help prevent sprawl. Efforts are under way to form a new local land grant agency to help landowners who want to give up development rights on property.
