CAMBRIDGE—Massey-Harris was the featured tractor for the 2010 Cambridge Tractor Show held Saturday, Aug. 7 in downtown Cambridge. A total of over 254 entries were entered and displayed in the day-long event.

CAMBRIDGE—Josh Uhlry was the super prize winner during the summer reading program at the Cambridge Public Library Wednesday, July 28. As the grand prize winner, Uhlry won a 9” digital portable television and radio.
CAMBRIDGE—School board members and administrators got a bit of a shock two weeks ago. While looking over some of the geothermal project which is nearing completion, they discovered a black substance on the ceiling above some of the drop ceilings in some of the classrooms at the Cambridge Elementary School and decided to find out what it was. After sending off a sample to Emlabs, it came back as black mold.
CAMBRIDGE—School registration will be held from Monday, Aug. 9, through Wednesday, Aug. 11. Teacher institute will be Monday, Aug. 16, and the first day of school on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
CAMBRIDGE—The letters that once spelled out Humphrey’s Barber Shop on a store front windowpane in downtown Cambridge were recently removed to make way for a new business.

CAMBRIDGE—Village board members hope their action takes them one step closer to permanently closing the Cambridge Landfill which has not been used for the last 10 years.
CAMBRIDGE—Registration will be held Monday, Aug. 9, through Wednesday, Aug. 11. All teachers will participate in a local institute Monday, Aug. 16. The first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 17.
CAMBRIDGE—Despite all Henry County departments coming in under budget for the past fiscal year, the county still faces a $500,000 deficit, which concerns members of the county board.
CAMBRIDGE—Geothermal rooftop units were put in place Tuesday, July 20, at Cambridge Elementary School. The project should be completed by Friday, July 30, said Superintendent Tom Akers. “The well fields are almost ready and they are hoping to run a water test Thursday, July 22,” he stated. “There may be some little comestic things that need to be finished after July 30, but otherwise we should be good.”
CAMBRIDGE—Pre-kindergarten will be retained as a full-time program at the Cambridge Elementary School since Illinois will reportedly increase funding for early childhood education, according to Tom Akers, superintendent of schools. The announcement was made during the Cambridge School Board meeting Wednesday, July 14.
CAMBRIDGE—Last year, an antique tractor show was held in conjunction with Cambridge Main Street Fest and Car Show. This year, the show will be expanded and held separately according to Karen Hutchinson, one of the show’s organizers. The show will be held Saturday, Aug. 7, in downtown Cambridge with registration beginning at 7 a.m. and the show running from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
CAMBRIDGE—Glenna Palmer of Cambridge is a very talented woman and she loves to share that talent with the public. Palmer, who has lost part of her sight, will be singing the National Anthem at the Quad Cities River Bandits game at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Modern Woodmen Park, Davenport, Iowa.
CAMBRIDGE—Henry and Stark County Health Departments are pleased to announce that Betty McNaught, RN, department emergency services director, was recently awarded the Illinois Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director's Creative Drill/Exercise Award.
CAMBRIDGE—The Henry County Fair Board placed a granite boulder on the left side of the Millennium Show Barn just before fair week in memory of the late Gary Frisk.
COLONA—On Thursday, June 24, Henry County municipal leaders, contractors and community members heard presentations on zero net energy homes, using permeable pavers, rain barrels and native plants for storm water management, geothermal heating and cooling and tax benefits of green energy.
CAMBRIDGE—Board members recognized public works director Ed Dole at the Monday, June 28, Cambridge board meeting. Dole has been an employee of the village for 30 years, beginning his career at the age of 19. He was named public works director in 1993.
CAMBRIDGE—Jaidyn Miller of Sheffield showed the grand champion barrow in the 4-H swine show on Thursday, June 24, at the Henry County Fair. The reserve champion barrow belonged to Tyler Gradert of Geneseo.
CAMBRIDGE—4-H'ers from all over Henry County bring their projects—ranging from aerospace to visual arts—to the fairgrounds and present them to judges.
