For this reason County Farm Bureaus have teamed up to offer a series of seminars pertaining to Farm Labor Liability and Safety Measures. These seminars will take place Thursday, Feb. 16 in two separate locations. The morning seminar will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Birkey’s Farm Store, 1350 Western Ave, Henry. The afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m. at the Annawan Community Center at Howe’s Park, 314 N State Street, Annawan.

Featured speakers include Sheri Saskowski, Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Gold Star FS. She will speak about properties of anhydrous ammonia and how to stay safe while handling and transporting the valuable agricultural input.

Tony Stirling and Roberta Boarman, from FBFM will focus on farm labor rates and tax liability which come with hiring on farm labor.

Garrett Thalgott, attorney with Illinois Farm Bureau will speak on employment liability. Learn through his presentation the risks you inherit with on farm labor.

Mike May and Wes Kieser, both Field District Underwriters for COUNTRY Financial, will speak on risk and exposures you place on yourself and your farm when hiring farm employees and the steps you should take to be covered. There will be time at the end of the presentations for questions.
