Preparing the Thanksgiving dinner can be intimidating. Fortunately, first graders at Cambridge Elementary School are turkey experts, and they are willing to share their tips. These recipes are from the students of Lori Foley and Christi Reed. We are publishing them over four days, from Monday through Thursday. This are Wednesday's recipes.

Camden Galle — I am going hunting for my turkey in long grass and put it in the back of the car. I will put it in a pan and put some spices on it. Teaspoon salt, a spoon of pepper, and 1 gallon of meatloaf inside of it. I’m going to cook it in the oven for 5 minutes and 85 degrees. I will make mashed potatoes and normal corn. Desert will be “Banilla” ice cream and sprinkles. I am thankful for my mom, dad, papa, my brother, and grandma.

Lillyrose Hagerman — I am going to get the turkey with my mom from Walmart. I will stuff it with stuffing, like 10 peppermint spices and 12 cups of ginger. I will cook it in my oven for 10 minutes and 80 degrees. I am going to make mashed potatoes and gravy, watermelon, rice cakes, and salted ice cream. I will get some apples, pumpkins and squash to put in my cornucopia. We will eat all of this in my house. I am thankful for God, my mom, dad, sisters and brothers.

Carson Hancock — I think I will hunt for a turkey, maybe. I will go hunt with my dad in the country around the cornfields and stuff. I will take my turkey to my grandma and she will help me cook it because she is the only one who cooks the feast. I will stuff the turkey with only a little bit of taco seasoning, 2 hot dogs, and I have like a lot of seasonings more like spaghetti seasonings, too. We will put it in a pot and put it on top of the stove. I will cook it for at least like a “half hours” at really hot. We like to have mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and sometimes grapes and strawberries. We can like have ice cream with sprinkles for dessert. I’m thankful for Thanksgiving, a home, and people in my family.

Levi Hixson — I am going to get my turkey from a farmer in the country with my parents. I will probably stuff in it a little bit of ham, a quarter of a super special kind of spicy seasoning but I don’t know what it is called but my dad does and it’s super good! I will put it in a big pot and cook it in the oven like for like 30 or 40 minutes at 70 or 80 degrees. We will let it cool off. We’re going to have regular potatoes with a little bit of pepper, some berry pie, and a little bit of grapes. We will eat it at my house and I am thankful for my parents.

Vannessa Hollis — I can’t remember what it is called but it’s a big place where they have turkeys and bring it home to cook. I’m going to stuff it in with grapes...only 5, strawberries...only 6, and a piece of an apple. I will put it in a big pan and put it in the oven for 60 minutes and 50 degrees. We will also eat watermelon, chocolate ice cream, and rolls with like white frosting on it. I’m thankful to my friends, my family, Mrs. Reed, and grandpa and grandma.

Maddison Kutsch — I’m going to go get my turkey at the Dollar Store with mommy. I will “stuffing it with stuffing,” probably 4 hams, and 5 drops of seasonings. I’m going to cook it in a big pot on the stove for 5 minutes and 81 hot. We will have mashed potatoes, garden corn, and a cinnamon and apple pie with little cuts of apples. I will eat this inside or outside but I want to eat inside because it’s cold but there may not be enough room just at the kitchen table. I’m thankful for my mommy, daddy, God, my friends, and all my family.

Brady Motley — I will go to Walmart and get our turkey. I will cook it with 2 gallons of sugar and 1 ounce of Catalina dressing. I’m going to cook it in the oven on a tray for 5 minutes and 15 minutes at 7 hot. I’m thinking of what I always have to eat like fresh potatoes, lettuce salad with Hellmann's, cheese, and Catalina dressing. I eat this all with my cousins and grandmas at my house. I’m thankful for my mom and dad.

Crew Roberson — I get the turkey from the store... normally like Walmart. I put in ½ cup salt, 1 bag of taco meat in the turkey, and like those little balls like green beans...I think they are PEAS I mean! I will go outside with my dad and my grandpa and cook it in the driveway on the grill. I’ll cook it for 20 maybe minutes at 30 degrees hot. We will have “smushed up strawberries”...maybe cranberry sauce? We have bread with butter, tomato salad with some ranch, and strawberries or some regular pie. We will eat at my grandma and and grandma’s because they have a really nice diner table that’s really nice. I am thankful for all of my great-grandpas, mom, dad, Chase, my grandparents, and my cousins.
