Michael L. Keegan, 67, of Geneseo, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, in Peoria. A private graveside service was Monday, March 12 at Oakwood Cemetery. Deacon Harley Chaffee officiated. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Michael was born Jan. 7, 1951, in Geneseo, the son of Willard Keegan and Arlene (Phillips) Keegan-Morehouse. He graduated from the Roosevelt Military Academy, in Aledo. Michael married Sue E. McElwee on June 16, 1973, in Geneseo. He worked for John Deere in the seeding division for 30 years, retiring from the maintenance department. Michael had a passion for drag racing and gardening. He loved spending time with family and spending time with his friends at the Cordova Dragway. Michael also loved spending time with his constant companion and fur baby, Addy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sue; son, Kris (Jennifer) Keegan, of Geneseo; daughter, Nikki (Phil) Smith, of Geneseo; and granddaughters, Kameryn Keegan and Taylor and Tristen Smith. He also is survived by his brother, Earl (Laura) Keegan, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Arlene; sister, Pam Keegan; and brother, James Keegan.
