Southeastern Illinois College Theatre is proud to present Mel Brooks’ classic mu- sical The Producers April 20-22 in the George T. Dennis Visual and Performing Arts Center.

The Producers is the hilari- ous story of a scheming pro- ducer, Max Bialystock (Alex McRoy of Harrisburg) and his mousy accountant, Leo Bloom (Jordan Richey of Benton) aim- ing to produce the biggest op on Broadway in a laugh-out- loud musical based on Mel Brooks’ classic comedy lm. As a Broadway musical, The Pro- ducers set the standard for out- rageous, in-your-face humor, winning a record twelve Tony Awards.

The Producers includes massive show-stopping num- bers including “The King of Broadway,” “I Wanna Be a Pro- ducer,” “When You Got It, Flaunt It,” “Springtime for Hit- ler,” and “Prisoners of Love.”

“It’s a very exciting and humbling experience to have the opportunity to play one of Nathan Lane’s most iconic characters,” said McRoy. “He

has such a distinct style and way of acting that is so fun to get to replicate in my own way. Also, Mel Brooks is one of my favorite playwrights. His scripts are always over the top funny and light hearted; audi- ences always love them, and I hope ours does too.”

Additional roles include John Suh of Ziegler as Franz Liebkind; Braden Cummins of Carrier Mills as Roger DeBris; Carter Reed from Harrisburg as Carmen Ghia; Heidi Willis- Smith of Harrisburg as Ulla Inga Hansen Benson Tallen Hallen Svaden Swanson.
