Geneseo High School students Veronica Eilers and Sarah Ramp recently joined an elite list of students inducted into the Illinois State Library 100 Book Club.

Each year the Illinois State Library and the Illinois Center for the Book sponsor the Read for a Lifetime program to promote the enjoyment of reading by encouraging students to read both classic and contemporary literature and rewarding them for their effort, according to Geneseo High School and Geneseo Middle School library information specialist Jeanne Brucher.

There are 25 titles on the book list each year and students qualify for the program by reading at least four books on the list

Only a dozen high school students in the state of Illinois have ever read all 100 books during their high school career. Of those 12, 10 have come from Geneseo High School, including Eilers and Ramp.
