What is it?
The Spartan Discount Grocery store is scheduled to open at the end of January or the beginning of February at 100 N. Prospect Street according to Dwaine VanMeenen, Cambridge village administer.
Who will benefit from it?
All Cambridge area residents and anyone from outside the community who wants to shop there.
The store will not be huge at first, but Noord’s main goal is to meet the needs of the community. Noord’s boxed cereal is the lowest shoppers will find anywhere and many other prices are low and, if they catch her on a good day; she might make a final discount at the checkout.
Noord also hopes to eventually offer home delivery to the elderly in the community.
Why is it necessary/
Spartan Discount Grocery will help fill the void after Cambridge Jack and Jill closed last September.
What still needs to be done?
The shelving needs to be installed and the food placed on them. The Chronicle tried to contact Noord, but was unable to get a hold of her for more information.
