Two students have been honored by the Cambridge Rotary Club as students of the quarter this year.
These students have achieved academic excellence, demonstrated exceptional character or promoted school spirit.
The Student of the Quarter is chosen by Robert Reagan, Cambridge Jr./Sr. High School principal, Lisa Miller, Cambridge Jr./Sr. High School guidance counselor and a member of the Rotary Club.
Allison Meyer and Bri Swanson were honored Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Meyer, an eighth grader, was nominated by one of her teachers, Sunny Letterle.
“Allison is the type of student that teachers love to have,” said Letterle. “She is studious, articulate and strives for excellence in all aspects of the classroom. She is also a tremendous athlete and actively participates in volleyball, dance, basketball and track. Allison also gives her time to help her father coach softball at the grade school. She also devotes her time to her duties as Junior Miss Henry County Fair Queen. As her teacher, we are proud of her accomplishments in and out of the classroom, and we feel lucky to have her as our student.”
Swanson, a senior, was nominated by Shelly Logston, Cambridge Elementary School principal.
“Bri was walking out of the grade school and noticed money on the ground,” Logston said. “She originally thought it was a dollar. After picking it up, she realized it was much more, well over $300. She made the choice to bring it into the office. The person who had lost the money contacted us later. It was the family’s rent money for the month. He was very grateful.”
