Obituary: Connie Blank

    Connie S. Blank, 62, of Cambridge, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at her mother’s home in Cambridge.         

    Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover with the  Rev. Jan Veseth officiating.  Visitation was from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. 

    Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Service, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements. 

    Memorials may be made to the Connie Blank Memorial Fund for the education of her grandchildren.

    Connie Sue Whisker was born Sept. 27, 1948, in Kewanee, the daughter of Robert and Hazel (Mallery) Whisker.  She was raise by her mother and step father, Hazel and Donald Bengtson. 

    Connie was educated in Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1966.  She was a lifelong resident of Cambridge except for five years when she lived in LaFayette. 

    She was employed at Sportsman Bar and Grill, Cambridge, the Pioneer Club, Kewanee, and Fraker’s Grove, LaFayette.  She then owned the College Square Collectibles in Cambridge.  She loved going to yard sales, spending time with grandkids and taking care of her parents.

    Those surviving are her two daughters and a son-in-law, Corrie K. and Randy Newman, Lynn Center, and Carrie Staley, Cambridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Linda Blank, Ashland, Wis., and seven grandchildren, Brittny Blank, Andover, Trystin Staley, Cambridge, Brayden and Lena Newman, Lynn Center, Ashtin Staley, Cambridge, Maddison and Mason Kutsch, Cambridge.  Other survivors include her parents, Hazel and Donald Bengtson, Cambridge, and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert John and Karen Whisker, Orion. 

    Her grandparents, Gertrude LaVonne Mallery, John Lieman Mallery, Myrtle M. Bengtson, John M. Bengtson, and twin sons, David Dwayne and Dwayne David Hickenbottom, preceded her in death.
