Monday, Jan. 25, was the date the Ridgewood Spartan girls went to Kewanee for a game against the Wethersfield Flying Geese.  The final score, Ridgewood 82, Wethersfield 73, makes the game look much closer than it ever was on the floor.

As of Tuesday morning, Feb. 2, the Ridgewood Spartans were 25-2 overall and 8-0 in conference after being Stark County, 59-46.

The Spartans are scheduled to open their regional play on Feb. 10, at Alwood High School against the Orion Chargers, pending the result of the Illinois High School Association board meeting on Monday, Feb. 8.

Because nine players were suspended for violations of Orion High School's athletic policy, the Chargers had to bring up seven freshmen to fill out the varsity roster. But the freshmen have played in four tournaments, the maximum allowed by the IHSA, and the postseason counts at a tournament.

The IHSA is being asked to let the freshmen play.
