Virginia J. Hancock, 88, of Cambridge died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Rosewood Care Center of Moline.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services with Pastor David Joyce officiating. Burial was at Andover Township Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Cambridge United Methodist Church.
Virginia Josephine Larson was born May 23, 1923, in Andover Township, Henry County, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Susie (Castaline) Larson. She was educated in the Andover-Orion area.
Her marriage to Edwin “John” Hancock took place on July 19, 1947, in Moline. He died October 27, 1998.
Virginia worked for 23 years as a cook at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church. Virginia enjoyed quilting and belonged to a local quilting group. She loved playing cards, gardening, flowers, going out to eat and the Chicago Cubs.
Those surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Judy Hancock, John Hancock, Gary and Chris Hancock, and a daughter, Joni Vincent, all of Cambridge. Other survivors include ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a brother, Virgil “Pete” Larson, of California.
Her parents, her husband, a twin sister, Vivian Vincent, a brother, Russell Larson, and a son-in-law, Jeff Vincent, preceded her in death.
