Mildred C. Moore, 91, of Galesburg, formerly of Cambridge, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Cambridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cheyanna Losey officiating. Inurnment was at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mildred Moore Memorial Fund.
Mildred Catherine Perry was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Solway, Ky., the daughter of William and Lila (Spencer) Perry. She was educated in White Mills, Ky., and graduated from White Mills High School in 1939. She married Chester Moore on November 30, 1940 in New Stithton, Ky. The couple moved to rural Cambridge in 1951.
Mildred was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church and its UMW Priscilla Circle. She was also a former member of Starcraft Camping Club and the Good Sam Camping Club.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, quilting, playing the piano, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Chester, Galesburg; children and spouses, Rod and Connie Moore, Galesburg, Nick and Judie Moore, Cambridge, Arden and Lorrine Moore, Woodhull, Sheila and George Johnson, O’Fallon, Ill., Charlotte and Dave York, Milan, Geri and Dan Birdsall, Lynn Center, Delbert and Lien Moore, Davenport; 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, William “Buster” and Barb Perry, Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
