    Linda Anne Lytle, 58, of Knoxville died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at home.

    Cremation will be accorded. Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. On Saturday, July 3, everyone was invited to the family home and gardens for a celebration of Linda’s life at 1 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Tom Larsen officiates. Bocce ball attire (casual) was requested.

    A memorial fund is being established for the Linda Lytle Annual Award for the Members and Friends Exhibition at the Galesburg Civic Art Center.

    She was born Jan. 5, 1952, in Peoria, the daughter of Richard and Annette (Schultz) Dickinson. She married Tom Lytle on June 14, 1975, in Eureka.

    She graduated from Eureka High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1974 and her master’s degree from Illinois State University in 2003.

    Linda was an accomplished writer and artist who loved to read and travel. She enjoyed being active in many writing and book groups, and was an avid Bridge player. Linda was a wonderful and loving mother, wife and friend. Her laugh will be missed by all.

    Linda taught English and was a professor at Monmouth College and Carl Sandburg College. Most recently, she worked as an educational skills specialist at Carl Sandburg College and was planning on retiring in January 2011.

    She was of the Methodist faith.

    She is survived by her husband Tom; two sons, Tom (and Michelle) Lytle of Mendota Heights, Minn. and David Lytle of Knoxville; a daughter, Laura Lytle of Mal Pais, Costa Rica; her parents, Richard and Annette Dickinson of Congerville; her in-laws, Richard and Betty Lytle of rural Galesburg; a brother, Richard (and Cyndee) Dickinson of Congerville and a sister, Pam (and Ben) Ahring of Cambridge. Linda and Tom have also been anticipating the birth of their first grandchild in December.
