    On Friday, Jan. 22, the varsity boys basketball team played at Annawan High School.  Three players hit double digits for the game.  Tyler Nimrick led the team with 23 followed closely by Brian Norberg with 22.  Clayton Carr added 12 points.  Also scoring were Kyle Leathers, six, Tyler Waugh, four and Cody Lanning, two.

    The game came down to one of those "last minute" situations where either team had a chance to come out victorious.  With 16 seconds left, the score was tied at 69 points each.  Annawan hit for two points, taking the lead 71-69 with 12 seconds to go.  The Spartans had one chance left to tie the game, but they were unable to score and the game ended with Annawan winning by two points.

Aledo 51, Ridgewood 35

    In a rescheduled game, the Spartans faced Mercer County on Saturday, Jan. 23.  This game was not as close as the Annawan game despite a 25- point performance by Nimrick. The Ridgewood team lost 51-35.  The Spartans were out scored in each quarter of the game, 8-12, 7-12, 13-16 and 11-7.
