Donna J. Johnson, 79, formerly of Cambridge, died on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Donna J. Johnson, 79, formerly of Cambridge, died on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13th, at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. The Rev. Randall Swanson officiated. The family requested casual dress for the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cambridge Lutheran Church, Alzheimer’s Association or Henry County Humane Society, Geneseo.
Donna Jean Smith was born March 27, 1938, in Kewanee, the daughter Gale and Doris (Hawthorne) Smith. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1955. She was united in marriage with Rodney D. Johnson on Dec. 30, 1956, in Cambridge Lutheran Church.
Donna had worked at Bank Orion, Cambridge, and retired after 34 years.
She was a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church.
Donna loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandkids.
Survivors include her husband, Rodney of Geneseo; two daughters, Denise (Charlie) Brown of Cambridge and Deana Fox of Orion; six grandchildren, Sara (Chad) Humphrey, Michael (Jessica) Beam, Brandon (Amanda) Beam, Tyler Fox, Tanner (Amber) Fox and Jacob Fox; nine great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Avery and Ella Humphrey, Rodney, Rowdy, and Ruby Sue Beam, Caylee and Colton Beam, and Elizabeth Fox; a brother, Carl (Mary) Smith of Geneseo; and a sister, Bette (Gene) Clarke of Colona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister and brother-in-law, Lavonne and Linder Schumaker.
