Mary Jean Phillips went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, with her loving husband of 63 years by her side and surrounded by her family.

Funeral from the Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Mo., at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Valley Park, Mo., for 10 a.m. Mass. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Father Nimoreous (Nimo) Church/School for Priests in Africa, c/o Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1402 10th Street, P. O. Box 175, Orion IL 61273.

She was born on Feb. 5, 1932, in Utica, N.Y., the daughter of Leland Stanford Findlay and Gladys Bertha Gardner. At 20 years of age, Mary enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Ernest Harmon Air Force Base, Stephenville, Newfoundland, as an air traffic controller. She met her husband Donald Gene Phillips there, and they were married on Aug. 21, 1954, in Gander Bay, Newfoundland.

Mary was a member of Mary Our Lady Of Peace Catholic Church in Orion, where she resided for 50 years before moving to St. Louis, Mo. 

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many.

She is survived by her husband Donald Phillips; seven children, Alan (Karen) Phillips, Mary Lynn (Jack) Bailey, Brian (Holly) Phillips, Janet Ianniello, Karen (Ken) Kempen, Robert (Jessie) Phillips and Donna Phillips; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leland Findlay, Charles Findlay and Glenn Gardner; and sisters, Agnes Krawczyk, Gertrude Buczkowski, Geraldine Peek, and Shirley Decker.
