Alvin K Walker, Sr., 74, of Lynn Center died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
    Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion.  Visitation was Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge with military rites being conducted.  Memorials may be made to Cambridge Church of God.
    Alvin was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Tildento to Virgil and Mary Alice (Redfairn) Walker.  He married Myrtle P. Middleton on Aug.10, 1957, in Corinth, Miss.
    Alvin worked for 30 years at John Deere Harvester, East Moline.  He was in U.S. Marines from 1954-1956 serving in the Korean Conflict.  He then joined the reserves till 1962.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #2910, Bloomington.  He was a member of Cambridge Church of God where he was a former adult Sunday school teacher and also helped in keeping of the grounds and maintenance for the church.  He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling.
    Survivors include his wife, Myrtle; children, Melodie (Stan) Nelson of Maple Grove, Minn., Alvin K. Walker, Jr. of Osco, Joseph A. (Wendy) Walker of New Windsor, Darryl (Yong Hui) Walker of Cupertino, Calif. and Jacqueline (James) Mettlin of Osco; grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Olivia, John, Shauntia, Teddra, and Ariel; great-grandchildren, Landen and Noah and a brother, Charles (Janet) Walker of East Moline.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, and three brothers.
