Obituary: Sam Vicevich

    Samuel J. Vicevich, 52, of Green City, Mo., came to be with the Lord on Friday, August 6, 2010.

    A memorial service to honor his life was held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, with one hour of visitation before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Mo., with Father Chris Cordes presiding.

    Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Adair County Relay for Life. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.

    The son of John Eldred and Rose Jeanette (Mitchell) Vicevich, he was born June 5, 1958, in Atkinson.

    He was raised in Cambridge and was a graduate from Cambridge High School with the class of 1976.

    Sam married his high school sweetheart, Vickie Evans, on Oct. 20, 1979, and went on to have two daughters with Vickie and raised his family in Powell, Wyoming. He worked as a carpenter his entire life and in the summer of 2008, Sam and Vickie moved to the Midwest where Sam built his dream home.

    He enjoyed hiking, fishing, camping and loved spending time with his three grandchildren. Sam was a strong, courageous man who always kept his word in taking care of his family. He will be missed immensely but remembered forever.

    Sam attended the Baptist Church in Green City.

    Sam is survived by his wife, Vickie of the home; two daughters, Arielle Vicevich of Powell, WY and Kayla Vicevich of Billings, MT, and three grandchildren, Aaron Broadway, Serena Broadway and Alycia Munoz. He is also survived by four brothers, James Vicevich of Myrtle Beach, S.C., William Vicevich and Thomas Vicevich, both of Davenport, Iowa, and Dennis Vicevich of Carbon Cliff; one sister, Sandra Vicevich of Billingsville, PA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Virginia Vicevich.
