Obituary: Richard Stover Sr.

Richard L. Stover, Sr., 66, of Eldridge, Mo., formerly of Cambridge, died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time, and will be announced by Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon, Mo. At his request, his body has been cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be left at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

He was born May 21, 1944, in Camdenton, Mo., the son of E. Gordan and May (Moore) Stover. He  married Selinna K. Moore Nov. 10, 1972.

He worked for and retired from Case International Harvester New Holland in East Moline and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 1304.

He was a longtime member and deacon of Ira Missionary Baptist Church, Eldridge.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing his guitar and singing. He loved being with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Selinna Kay; a son, Rick Stover of Eldridge; four daughters, Melissa-Ziegler-Nishperly and her husband, Fred, of Republic, Mo., Welcome Norma Lay and her husband, Tim, of Eldridge, Michelle Wexell and her husband, Scott, of Cambridge, and Jamie Watson and her husband, Jesse, of Eldridge; two brothers, Johnny Stover of Mt. Leonard, Mo. and Paul Stover of Carrolfon,  Mo.; two sisters, Evelyn McGuire of Camdenton, and Gordina “Punkin” Smith of Eldridge; his father-in-law, Thomas Moore of Eldridge; 14 grandchildren, Michael Lewis, Alexandra Wortham, Timmy Stover, Merle Thomas Lay, Troy Lay, Matthew and Mitchell Ziegler, Kayla and Bree Hamrick, Bo Aaron Stover, William, Chandler, Dalton James and Wade Garrett Watson; two great-grandchildren, Bradlee Koenings and Ayreona Hamrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Chester and Tony Stover; three sisters, Darleen Stover, Lucille Ward and Naomi Roofener, and his mother-in-law, Ellen Moore.
