Phyllis J. Tucker, 78, of Cambridge died Saturday, Dec, 5, 2009, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services in Cambridge with the Rev. John C. Wohlrabe, Jr. will officiating. Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Phyllis Tucker Memorial Fund.
The former Phyllis Harvey was born June 15, 1931, in Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Ona (Lunning) Harvey. She was educated in Ames, Iowa, schools and in Galesburg where she graduated from Galesburg High School in 1949. Her marriage to Jerold L. Tucker took place on Oct. 2, 1954, in Rock Island.
Phyllis had worked at Admiral in Galesburg, Modern Woodman Insurance in Rock Island, and her last employment was at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo. Her memberships include Concordia Lutheran Church, Geneseo, and its Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She enjoyed sewing, puzzles, crossword puzzles and playing cards.
Those surviving are her husband, Jerry, Sr.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff and Debi Tucker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Bruce Tucker of Cambridge; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister, Janet Hilton, and four brothers, Fred, Gary, Dale, and Rick Harvey, all of Galesburg.
Her parents, a son, Jerold, Jr., a daughter Sandra, and a brother, Jim, preceded her in death.
