Mary Hines, 87, East Moline, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at her home. Visitation was 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Graveside services were 11:30 a.m. Friday at Rock Island National Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.
Mary Lawr was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Sidney and Sylvia (Davis) Lawr. She married Frank W. Hines on April 1, 1945. He died March 29, 1979.
Mary had worked as a certified welder during World War II and later as a nurse’s aide at Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo and also in home health care.
She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and crafts. Mary also enjoyed making homemade wine and an occasional trip to the riverboats.
Survivors include her children, Frank Hines of East Moline, Julia Amrine and Roxanne Arnett, both of Barstow; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother ,Kenneth Lawr of Missouri.
