    E.J. Weidner, 90, of Osco died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Hammond- Henry Hospital Extended Care, Geneseo.

    Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, at Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion. Visitation was held Sunday, May 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kirk, Huggins, & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Burial was in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. 

    E.J. was born July 27, 1919, in Humphrey, Neb. to Ferdnand and Agnes (Brandl) Weidner. He married Emma C. Jasper on Feb. 20, 1939, in Davenport. Iowa.  She preceded him in death on July 1, 2006.

    E.J. was a molder and later a foreman at John Deere in East Moline. He then farmed for several years and later became Osco Township Road Commissioner.

    He was a member of Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion.

    He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

    Survivors include a daughter, Joan Richter of Osco; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Bernie Weider of Kewanee; a daughter-in-law, Julie Weidner of Erie; son-in-law, Charles Dykeman of Silvis; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beulah (Patrick) Murphy of Orion and Lucille (Francis) Sand of Humphrey, Neb., and brothers, Junior (Helen) Weidner of Humphrey, Chuck (Bernie) Weidner of Columbus, Neb., and Sylvester "Pep" (Rita) Weidner of Indiana.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Kenneth; daughter, Jean Dykeman, son-in-law, Tom Richter and four brothers.
