Mary L. Wexell, 72, of Cambridge, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at her home.
Graveside committal services was at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services.
Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Home or the Cambridge Fire Department.
The former Mary Lou Baker was born July 28, 1936, in Sac City, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver P. and Nellie J. (Ferguson) Baker. She was educated in Ames, Iowa, schools. Her marriage to Marvin L. Wexell took place on March 18, 1961, in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Mary worked as a cashier/trainer at the National Tea Company-Quad Cities stores for 16 years until 1972. She later worked as a bookkeeper/office manager at Myers Plumbing and Heating in Orion for 12 years, retiring in 1989
Her memberships include the Henry County Farm Bureau, the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association, and she was a former member of the Bishop Hill Community United Methodist Church.
Mary was a seamstress and had her own sewing and alteration business in her home for over 10 years. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, and woodworking, and she was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Basketball fan.
Those surviving are her husband, Marvin; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Chuck Fulco, Medway, Mass.; two grandsons, Charles Fulco and Cameron Fulco, both of Medway; three brothers and (spouses), Elmer (Colleen) Baker of Boone, Iowa, Eugene Baker of Gilbert, Iowa and Cordell (Virginia) Baker of Waitsburg, Wash., and a sister, Ruthe (Arthur) Pudgil, Coralville, Iowa. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews and a special cousin Rosella (Keith) Spicer, Sac City, Iowa.
