Marjorie Ed Johnson, 100, of Silvis, formerly of Cambridge, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Cambridge Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dawn Keenan officiating, assisted by Rev. Larry Conway. Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Service, Cambridge.
Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Lutheran Church.
The former Marjorie Ed was born July 5, 1910, in Moline, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Nyquist) Ed. She graduated from Moline High School and attended Augustana College in Rock Island, where she met her future husband, Dale.
Her marriage to Dale W. Johnson took place on Nov. 24, 1940, in Moline. The couple had lived in the same house they built in Cambridge until 1995 when they moved to Silvis. Dale passed away Nov. 26, 2000.
Marjorie worked as a bookkeeper before her marriage and then became a homemaker. Her memberships include the Cambridge Lutheran Church and the WELCA group of the church.
In her early years, she played golf and tennis. She also enjoyed traveling, playing cards, cats, watching sports on television and playing her piano. Marjorie especially liked her annual winter visits to St. Petersburg, Fla.
Those surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Alan Johnson and Jan Eberlein-Johnson of Moline; a granddaughter and her husband, Misty and Steve Meinig of Chicago and a grandson, Trent Johnson of Chicago.
Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
