Bernice I. Larson, 93, of Aledo, formerly of Lynn Center, died May 18, 2009, at Mercer County Nursing Home.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at Swedona Lutheran Church. Visitation was Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Burial was in Swedona Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Swedona Lutheran Church or Mercer County Nursing Home.
Bernice was born Oct. 27, 1915, in Cambridge, to Donald and Luella (Viagor) Slater.
She married Evan Larson on March 18, 1939, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2000.
Bernice was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in the Lynn Center area.
She was a member of Swedona Lutheran Church where she was very active with all church circles. She helped with the Swedish dinner and at funeral luncheons.
She was in card clubs, including a birthday club and couple club. When her children were younger, she was on the PTA. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and quilting.
Survivors (and spouses) include a daughter, Rita (Larry) Truman of Seaton; a son, Don (Pat) Larson of Orion; grandchildren, Rhonda (Mark) Medinger of Reynolds, Bruce Truman of North Plainfield, N.J., Tricia (Brian) Johnson of Orion, Renee (Craig) Truman of Seaton and Troy Larson and fiancée Melissa of Orion; great-grandchildren, Jake Johnson, son of Tricia and Brian Johnson, and Clayton Truman, son of Renee and Craig Truman; and sisters, Mildred Johnson of Alpha and Elaine Nimrick of Woodhull.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers Glen, Chester and Fred.
