 William A. "Bill" Leff, 66, of rural Altona, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.  

 Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Galva Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services with the Rev. David Pyell officiating. Burial was in the Bishop Hill Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the Bishop Hill United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.

 Bill was born January 5, 1943, in Galesburg, the son of Willard F. and E. Louise (Muir) Leff. He graduated from Galva High School in 1961 and served in the Illinois National Guard from 1963 to 1968.  

 His marriage to Odetta Downing took place on September 8, 1966, in Beardstown, IL. Bill started farming in high school and began his livestock trucking business in 1985.

 He was a member of the Bishop Hill Community United Methodist Church and the Bishop Hill Old Settlers. Bill had served on the Board of Directors for Weller Township and the Galva COOP, and he was the ASCS Committeeman for Weller Township.  

 In his early years, he had played ball with the Bishop Hill Swedes. Bill enjoyed fishing, baseball, and playing Pitch.

 Survivors include his wife, Odetta; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lauretta and Robert Nordstrom of Bishop Hill and Patricia Emmerson of Galva. Also surviving are two nephews, Larry (Teri) Nordstrom of Galva, Zane (Crista) Downing of Cambridge; a niece, Sue Weimer of Galva; an aunt, Ruby Sorenson of Hallock, MN; grand nephews; grand nieces and cousins.  

 His parents preceded him in death.
