Hey there! Another week has gone by and now there is only 24 days until the fair!

The directors are in desperate need of a group to man the gates during fair week. This is a paid position and an ideal chance to have a money-maker for your church or club. Two groups could partner with another group to split the work load. If interested, contact Connie Johnson at 945-3847.

I just heard that Steve’s Nursery is going to landscape our entrance to the fairgrounds. We needed a facelift and the directors sure appreciate their sponsorship.

Work goes on around here. The barn dance/bingo committee is busy cleaning out the old art hall and decorating for both activities. Anyone who has some old “stuff” that would hang in the barn can phone Cheryl Johnston at 937-2491. The “stuff” will be returned.

A couple of things ... the junior open beef show is Friday at 4 p.m. and the 4-H goat show is Thursday.

We still haven’t got our state check yet. The directors are doubtful that it will be coming before fair, if at all. The state money crunch is sure hurting us. Cash flow before fair is really short. If anyone is still considering a donation or sponsorship, it’s not too late and it would be put to good use. Every “little bit” helps. I promise you won’t be disappointed with all the changes this year. Most of our additions to the event are self supporting or donations.

It’s not too late to have a sign or banner on the fence and it’s good
advertising. Call Cheryl for more information.

Entries for exhibits are due Monday, June 7. Connie will also be at the fair office that day accepting entries and will continue to work until the fair comes around. The fair office phone number is 937-3391.

Antique classes for the open show are now online at www.henrycountyfairillinois.com or phone Cheryl.

Do you realize there are going to be bands in two to four places everyday at the fair and also karaoke? All of my mouse friends and I will be band hopping most of the time. There will be something for every age group.

I want everyone to remember it takes all of the Henry County communities to “raise” a fair. It’s very expensive.

The next Henry County Fair board meeting will be held Tuesday, June 1, at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
