Hey! Me again! Boy! Things are really starting to pop at the fairgrounds. Fair is just a little more than two months away. All the fair directors want you to know that there are more fairbooks available if you don’t have one yet. Or go to www.henrycountyfairillinois.com and the whole book is on your computer.
Battle of the Bands is underway. Anyone interested can send a tape or CD to Susan Wells, 219 North Main Street, Cambridge. Competition for the finalists will be held in the grandstand on Wednesday morning and afternoon of the fair. Winners will receive cash and other prizes and will play nightly in the Teen Tent. Great way to get your name out there! Family oriented bands only...this is a first time event, so let’s make it a good one.
The new Cook-Off, with a Cook’s Choice Class, on Saturday sounds great.
I heard we have a singer coming to the fair, all the way from Bishop Hill. Okay, so if you have short legs and you’re little that’s a very big deal. Her name is Shelly Kinzer and she will be singing just about everywhere on the fairgrounds, even in the MEC Tent for the kids at the church service on Sunday and in the grandstand.
This Saturday, April 10, there is going to be a Show Pig Sale at the fairgrounds. Come on out, it could be fun.
Things just don’t happen during fair week around here. One of these weekends we’re going to paint picnic tables and spiff up the Old Art Hall for bingo. Planting will be in full swing, too.
Hey, kids, get those toy trucks and tractors cleaned up. “Playing in the Corn” brought to you by Michlig Agri Center is going to be real fun.
Stay tuned for the next column. Until then, think spring. Think fair!
