CAMBRIDGE—The girls’ basketball season ended with their banquet Thursday, March 26. The ceremony began with some desserts and a slideshow of the girls throughout the season. The slideshow also included a segment featuring the seniors.

CAMBRIDGE—On your mark. Get set. Go.   AlWood/Cambridge track is off with a running start. A new season has come to this co-oped team consisting of both Cambridge and AlWood students. Both teams have already started preparing for the hurdles they will face as a team and individually this season. 
 

CAMBRIDGE—Coach Brent Vincent and coach Jeff Hannam came prepared to deliver speeches and talk about their amazing players and the season they had during the boys’ basketball banquet Wednesday, March, 18, at the Cambridge High School. 

CAMBRIDGE— Daniel Walsh and Steven Lenertz, two seniors on the Cambridge varsity basketball team, were named to the first and second Lincoln Trail All Conference teams, respectively, by LTC coaches.
 

URBANA—Cambridge High School dancers placed third at state Saturday, March 14, at Champaign-Urbana in single A pom dance.  

CAMBRIDGE—Viking basketball has come to the end of its era. After a long reign, it is finally over, leaving many people in its history. These individuals have made a difference in Viking history, and at this time should be recognized. Spanning over nearly 90 years, Vikings have been topping the record books.

CAMBRIDGE—Cambridge’s varsity boys basketball season came to an end last week after winning the opening round of regional action and falling to Orion in the second round of play. As the Vikings played hard throughout regionals, they also played for the last time as Vikings. Next year, Cambridge will co-op with AlWood and be known as the Ridgewood Spartans.

CAMBRIDGE—The girls basketball Lincoln Trail All-Conference team was released on Thursday, Feb. 26.  First team selections included Kelly Buresh and Aron Jackson, Annawan, Miriam Rutzen and Ashley Coffee, West Central, Shelby Steger, Wethersfield, Natalie Turner, Stark County, Leah Whittaker, Priceville, Stephanie Williams, AlWood, Gina Long, United, and Kalyn Nelson, ROWVA.

CAMBRIDGE—Cambridge varsity boys basketball team played a couple of games last week, one Tuesday, Feb. 17, their last home game of the season and Friday, Feb. 20, their last regular game of the season and one game Monday, Feb. 23, the opening game of the Orion Regional, which they won 77-67. Wednesday’s night game was also senior night and Steven Lenertz and Daniel Walsh were honored for their hard work and dedication throughout the last four years before the start of the game.  Information on Monday night’s game with AlWood at Orion was not available at press time, but the Vikings took on Orion Wednesday, Feb. 25. Lenertz also advanced in the three-point Country Financial Shoot-Out.

DAVENPORT—Jenny Clark, daughter of Jim and Pam Clark of Cambridge and a junior on the St. Ambrose University Queen Bees basketball team, has had quite the successful year along with her teammates.

CAMBRIDGE—The Lincoln Trail Conference defected from the West Prairie Trail on Tuesday night, signaling the end of the conglomerated mega-conference. At a meeting of principals in Woodhull, the LTC voted to follow in the steps of the Prairieland and become autonomous in football effective the 2010 season.

ALEDO— Amanda Kruger led the Cambridge varsity girls basketball team against Aledo in the opening round of the Class 1A Regional. Even through Kruger netted 27 points alone and Cambridge had previously beaten the team twice, Aledo took the game, 60-53.

CAMBRIDGE— Cambridge Lady Vikings took on three strong teams last week, gaining experience for the regionals which began Monday, Feb. 9, in Aledo.

CAMBRIDGE—Cambridge Vikings participated in the Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament last week. They played some good teams and lost two games.

CAMBRIDGE—Like the girls, the Cambridge varsity boys basketball team also had a busy week facing United and then Westmer in a tournament. In the end they came up with one win and one loss for the week.
