Gillman gets run support in WFC victory

Woodland-Flanagan-Cornell collected 12 base hits and gave hurler August Gillman a nice lead early en route to a 7-4 victory over Henry-Senachwine in a Tri-County Conference game.
Gillman struck out six and allowed six hits in going the distance. Two of Henry’s runs were unearned.
The Warriors struck for four runs in the first inning to stake Gillman to an advantage. Elisa Kane got things rolling with a leadoff single and Emily Friese doubled one out later to drive in Kane. Shea Moritz then singled home Friese and Kylie Kindermann set the table for Sydnee Plesko with a base hit.
Plesko smacked a two-base hit that drove in Moritz and Kindermann for a 4-0 lead. The advantage grew to 7-0 after three runs in the second frame.
Kane singled with one out and Audrey Jenkins followed with a base hit before a Friese safety drove in Kane. Moritz then tripled home Jenkins and Friese.
Moritz had three hits and three runs batted in while Friese had two hits and two RBIs. Kane also had two hits and Plesko contributed a hit and two runs batted in. Jenkins, Kindermann, Gillman and Kaitlyn Walter each singled.
