Area softball with Pontiac win and Dwight winning

Reed-Custer got a big dose of “anything you can do, I can do better” from Pontiac as the Indians routed the Comets 19-4 in a nonconference softball game Wednesday afternoon.
Pontiac lost a five-run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Reed-Custer scored four times to trail by one.
But the Indians had an answer and produced 14 runs in the top of the sixth inning to put the game away. It was Alyssa Fox who did most of the damage for Pontiac.
Amanda Fox tripled to lead off the PTHS sixth and Emma Jacobs was hit by a pitch with one out to bring Alyssa Fox, who went yard with a three-run homer. It started a string of seven straight base hits for the Tribe.
Sydney Barnett doubled and that was followed by singles from Regan Krause, Maddison Stark, Madison Weber, Madisyn Webster and Amanda Fox. Addison Masching drew a walk to keep the runners reaching base string going. Pinch-hitter Peyton Trost singled to load the bases.
Alyssa Fox belted not only her second roundtripper of the inning, but this home run was a grand slam. Barnett followed with a single before the second out was recorded. Grace Myers then doubled and Weber tripled to give Pontiac the cycle in a matter of five batters.
The Indians opened the scoring in the second inning when Webster’s triple drove in Weber. PTHS made it 2-0 in the third as Alyssa Fox and Barnett stroked back-to-back doubles. Two runs in the fourth — off a hits from Amanda Fox and Jacobs — made it 3-0.
PTHS scored a run in the fifth to make it 5-0.
Amanda Fox had four hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs to help pace the Pontiac (15-6) attack. Barnett also had four hits, three of which were doubles, and drove in a run while Alyssa Fox had two homers, a double and seven RBIs. Webster had a triple, two singles and drove in two runs and Weber had three hits, including a double, and an RBI. Jacobs and Krause each had two hits and a run batted in and Myers had a two-base hit and RBI. Stark, Trost and Masching each had one hit.
Krause got the win after going the first five innings. She allowed four runs (none earned) on two hits and a walk. She struck out six. Amanda Fox fanned two in her inning of relief.
Dwight 3, Momence 2
MOMENCE — Dwight’s Sangamon Valley Conference softball game with host Momence was suspended in the fifth inning as rain brought the contest to a halt in the top of the fifth inning.
The Trojans had the bases loaded with Leah Flynn at bat when the game was stopped. Dwight was leading 3-2 at the time with a chance to break the game open.
Abby Edwards hit a home run with two outs in the third inning to break a 2-2 tie. Dwight got on the board in the top of the first with its first two runs.
Taylor Anderson and Edwards were each plunked by pitches and both scored on Kaitlyn Masching’s two-out double.
Momence drew even in the bottom of the first with two runs off Edwards. The runs came on a home run from Brooke Kelly.
Masching had a double and two runs batted and Edwards had a homer and RBI for Dwight. Kayla Kodat doubled and Macey Rodosky singled.
Edwards allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in four innings. She struck out seven.
