Girls' track sectional results from Thursday

The long trip was worth it for El Paso-Gridley’s girls’ track team as the Titans came away with the team title at the Class 1A Lewistown Sectional meet Thursday.
EPG will be sending representatives to Charleston next week in eight events despite winning just two. The Titans tallied 108 points, outdistancing runnerup Tremont by 10 points. Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland scored 6 points and will not be sending anyone to state.
The wins for EPG came in the 3,200-meter run and the 100-meter hurdles. Sophia Allen took the 3,200 in 13 minutes, 27.04 seconds. Titans teammate Cate Atkins was Allen’s heels in placing second at 13:27.09.
Faith Graham won the hurdles in 16.47 seconds.
The top two places automatically qualify for state, as do other placements who meet the qualifying standard.
Aubrey Staton advanced to state with a second-place finish in the high jump after clearing 5 feet. Tristyn Grube was second in the long jump with a mark of 16-8 to also move on.
Also placing second on the track were Atkins in the 1,600 at 5:26.17, and the 4x100 relay team of Makenna Parkhouse, Emma Betts, Staton and Graham with a time of 51.88 seconds.
The 4x400 relay team of Grube, Betts, Sophia Lowery and Parkhouse took third but met the qualifying time with their 4:16.04. Parkhouse also moved on with a time of 47.86 seconds in placing third in the 300-meter hurdles.
