A quick strike offensively helped the Lady Tigers settle into postseason play. The Class 3A Olney Regional would begin with a Quarterfinal game played between Salem and Olney. With the Lady Wildcats being the higher seed, the game was played at Salem, despite the regional being hosted by Olney. Aaliyah Wease and Sophia Colclasure helped carry the Lady Tigers to at least one more game at home. Jesika Ochs singled to start the game for Olney. Colclasure lifted a double into the outfield that moved Ochs to third. Wease would hit into a fielder’s choice, as Salem cut the runner down at third, but Ochs scored on the Wease grounder. After the top of the first, Olney would lead 1-0. The lead would be handed over to Colclasure who got the start in the Quarterfinal matchup. A leadoff single was followed by two straight outs and a walk. Runners would end on the corners as Colclasure forced a fly out. Salem would dance around a one out Haven Doll single in the second to keep the game at a 1-0 margin. Colclasure would be excellent in the second, striking out one in a perfect frame. That handed the game to the Olney offense, and the top of the order. After the first two went down, Colclasure again found the grass in the outfield for a double. Aaliyah Wease would follow that by launching her third home run of the season over the fence in left field. The two-run homer would push the Lady Tigers out in front of the host Lady Wildcats, 3-0. Wease and Colclasure accounted for all three extra base hits for the Lady Tigers on the day to that point. Sophia Colclasure would return to the pitching circle, holding a three run lead, and tossed another scoreless inning in the third. The fourth was a quick inning as each team was retired in order to move the game into the fifth with the Lady Tigers holding the 3-0 lead. In the fifth, Aaliyah Wease would get her third plate appearance with a runner in scoring position. Emma Thompson walked to open the fifth and was moved to second on a two out single from Sophia Colclasure. Wease singled and Thompson scored as the Lady Tigers added to their lead. Salem would hold the damage to just the one run, as Olney now held a 4-0 lead moving into the bottom of the fifth inning. The first two batters went down quickly, but a pair of singles caused trouble. Colclasure forced a line out to keep the shutout going. Olney would strand two runners in scoring position in the sixth after a Megan Garner single and Emma Thompson double put runners on second and third with two outs. A ground out kept the game at 4-0 as Salem looked for their first runs against the Olney right-hander. Hannah Minton would do just that lifting a fly ball that floated over the fence in left. Minton’s two-run home run, scored Kaitlyn Maxey who singled, and cut the Lady Tiger lead in half, 4-2. Colclasure responed and retired the side, keeping the Olney lead intact. After the Lady Tigers went down in order in the seventh, Colclasure would return to the circle looking to close out the game. The righty started the inning forcing a ground out before two straight singles put the tying run on the bases. Maxey would lift a fly ball to right, caught by Haven Doll for the second out. Salem would try and advance on the fly ball, but Doll got the ball back in quickly for the put out to end the game. The double play would end the game as Sophia Colclasure picked up her ninth win of the season in the pitching circle. Olney picked up the 4-2 win, their 9th on the season, and advanced to the Semifinals of the Class 3A Olney Regional. The Lady Tigers are now able to play one more game at home, at least, but standing in their way will be top seeded Marion.
