Golf tournament held in honor of Haley Harp

    A golf tournament in memory of Haley Harp of Cambridge was held Sunday, Aug. 15, at Valley View Country Club, Cambridge. The event was sponsored by the country club and also Cerno’s Bar & Grill, Kewanee.

    A total of 35 teams entered the fundraising tournament and when all was said and done, all prize monies designated for winnings and tip money generated during the tournament were generously donated back to the Haley Harp Memorial fund.

    The winning Men's Flight team included Bob Lindburg, Rod White, Gary Lockie and Tom Miller with a score of 56. The team donated the $300 winnings back to the memorial fund.

    The winning Women's Flight team included Bonita Vincent, Karen VanDyke, Lisa VanWatermeulen and Paula Janson with a score of 72. The team donated the $300 winnings back to the memorial fund.

    The Mixed Double’s winners included John and Carol Brunner and Ernie and Geri Gerlach with a score of 64. The team donated the $300 winnings back to the memorial fund.

    A closest-to-the-pin contest was held with prize money donated by Bennett Seeds, Inc. Kyle Downing was the closest by 4 feet-2 inches from the hole. Downing donated the $100 winnings back to the memorial fund.

    The Skins game held during the tournament was won by Derick Brown of Cambridge, who donated his $620 winnings back to the memorial fund.

    A Hole-In-One contest was held and although nobody scored in the contest, $420 was raised for the event.

    The 50/50 drawing of $250 was won by Shane Lindburg, who donated the winnings back to the memorial fund.
