Ridgewood's Homecoming parade awards announced

The Cambridge Champs 4-H Club took first place with their entry in the most artistic division of the Ridgewood Homecoming parade Saturday morning. Their float was entitled “Cambridge Champs Are Survivors, Revolution To Responsibility.”

    It was a beautiful sunny day for the Ridgewood Homecoming Parade Saturday morning, Oct. 8, in downtown Cambridge. This year’s theme was “Survivor.”

    Residents from Cambridge, Woodhull and Alpha lined the streets to cheer on their favorite entry.

    Winners in the float categories were announced by Tom Akers and Amy Moskowitz.

    Kevin Miller and Aly Smitth of Cambridge and Chad Leathers  and Somer Anderson of AlWood, reigned as this year’s Homecoming kings and queens.

    Cambridge court attendees were Kelsey Lavin, Taylor Vincent, Hailey Clark, Hanna Swanson, Ashley Kruger, Jacob Ellliott, Blaize Harris, Ben Smith and Dominic Martin. Cambridge crown bearers were Sage Windisch and Livvy Edmund.

    AlWood court attendees were: freshman attendees Ridge Greenwood and Mikayla Poppy; sophomore attendees Noah Shannnon and Sabrina Medley; junior attendees Madison Miller, Nicholas Ragan, Julia Patrick and Jarod Litton and senior attendees Chelsey Meirhaeghe, Bryant Sims, Hailee Barham and Jansen Noble. The crown bearers were Alaina Ackerson and Draven Smith.

    Winners in the float categories during the Cambridge Homecoming parade were announced.

    In the high school floats category, the sophomores took first place and also best overall class float, juniors, second; freshman, third; seniors fourth.

    The junior high float took first place in the elementary and junior high school category.

    In the most appropriate to theme the Senior Parents float took first place followed by the Cambridge Youth Sports League in second and the Junior High Football team float in third.

    The most artistic float was the Cambridge Champs 4-H  float followed by the Class of 66 float in second and the Cambridge Volleyball team float in third.

    For the commercial category Timber Campground took first place followed by Spartan Boosters in second.

    In the Antique  trucks category, Joe Larson took first place followed by Bank-ORION in second.

    In the Antique cars category Kevin Scott took first place followed by Eric Leander in second place.

    In the open class Twisted Sisters took first place.

    In the equestrian category, Henry County Equestrians took first place.

    In the children’s division of the parade, the best costume  under ten was won by the group of Brooklyn Johnson, Grace Hanson, Kierston Johnson, Carmen Stahl and Kennedy Nelson.

    The best costume ten and over category was won by Walker Guild.

    The best decorated bike for ages eight and under was won by Garrett Vincent for first place followed by Rowdy Beam and Rodney Beam in second place.

    The best decorated bike for ages nine and over was won by Bradley Schaefer and Kaiden Vinavich.

    The best decorated motorized vehicle was won by Hailey Casteel and Madison Casteel.  Tied for second were C.J. Duckwitz, Kodi Stropes, Weston Brown, Kash Schnowske, Ryder Schnowske and Keagan Hixson.
