Cambridge High School dancers placed third at state Saturday, March 14, at Champaign-Urbana in single A pom dance.  

 “Twenty-eight teams tried to make it to state, but only eight did,” stated coach Leanne Walsh. “And out of the eight that made it, we were the smallest school there and we brought home the third place trophy. I’m glad the girls did it since it’s the last year we’ll be known at the Cambridge Vikings.” 

 Next year, Cambridge will be cooping all sports, except for football, with AlWood. 

 An awards banquet was held at the Home Town Buffet following Saturday activities. Team awards were presented. Aly Smith was chosen as the most improved CHS dancer. Cayla Walsh was named best CHS dancer and had the best leaps. Laurel Whitford earned the leadership award. Best toe touch went to Cheyenne Grant-Witt. Best spins went to Sarah Eagles. The whole dance team was presented the coaches award. Emily Peterson earned the team award and Dana Brock had the best splits and facials. 

 Seniors Walsh and Whitford performed their last dance during the state competition.
