ROWVA defeats Ridgewood in softball regional

    The host ROWVA Tigers knocked off the second-seeded Ridgewood Spartans 8-2 on Wednesday, May 19, to advance to the championship game on Saturday, May 22, in Oneida.

    Ridgewood scored in the opening inning and took a 1-0 advantage into the fourth, but ROWVA rallied with three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take control.

    Megan Foglesong iced the win for ROWVA by sluggging a two-run homer in the seventh inning.

    Courtney Sage added two hits and two RBIs for the Lady Tigers, and Britt Johnson delivered two hits.

    Grace Cleair was the winner for ROWVA, fanning six and walking two.

    Sarah Werner took the loss for Ridgewood. Ella Teel led the Spartans with three hits.

    ROWVA will meet top-seeded Orion for the regional title at 11 a.m. Saurday in Oneida.
