Those fans who made the trip to Riverdale High School in Port Byron Friday, Dec. 18, were treated to a fantastic basketball game.

Led by junior guard Ella Teel’s 26 points, one would think it was another runaway game for the Ridgewood team.  Just the opposite was the story.

With 19.7 seconds left, Riverdale took the lead 60-61.  Time ran off the clock until there were only 10 seconds left in the game.

Ridgewood inbounded the ball at half court and they were patient, finding just the right shot.  The shot missed and the rebound went deep into the corner where senior forward Amanda Kruger tracked it down.  With her back to the basket, she took control of the ball.  With a half twist, she sent it back towards the basket as time expired.  The ball hit the side of the rim nearest her and bounced straight up.  After what seemed like an eternity, the ball settled back down and in.

It was that fantastic shot that gave the Spartans another win, 62-61.
