Ridgewood placed second in the first-ever Ridgewood-ROWVA tournament for boys basketball teams last month.

Tuesday night, Dec. 15, was the opening round in the eight-team tournament, co-hosted by the Ridgewood Spartans and the ROWVA Tigers.

The remaining six teams in the tournament were Prophetstown, Williamsfield, Mercer County, Elmwood, United and Erie.

The tournament was held in two pools at two different locations. At Woodhull, the pool consisted of Ridgewood, Williamsfield, United and Prophetstown. Pool play at Oneida featured ROWVA, Mercer County, Elmwood and Erie.

ROWVA  won the tournament by defeating United in overtime 57-51.

Ties for the remaining places were broken by fewest points allowed in the tournament. Ridgewood finished in second place. Williamsfield placed third, followed by Prophetstown in fourth place.
