On Friday, June 4, we asked our readers to tell us what they were looking forward to the most during the Henry County Fair.

Below is the answer one reader gave us.

So much to see and do

What are my family I and looking forward to most at the upcoming Henry County Fair? What are we NOT looking forward to! First thing I am going to eat at the fair is a McKinney corn dog. They are the BEST! I’ll no doubt have some curly fries and elephant ears as well as more corn dogs as the week progresses.

I’m anxious to see how my photographs, antiques and decorated cakes do in the art hall. The male baking category should be a fun one this year. I know my dad, brother and husband will be challenging each other in one of the categories.

My nephew, Jacob, will be showing pigs and a heifer at different times throughout the week so we’re looking forward to watching him show again.

My niece, Ella, will be in the Little Miss Pageant this year. We’re excited to see all the cute little ones on stage for the big night!! I’m looking forward to being on the mic Tuesday night in the grandstands with Kris Wexell from WJRE as he emcees the pageants. I’ll have a little fair/Henry County trivia for you that night so study up.

Some other staples for us would have to be the kids’ pedal tractor pull, talent show, demo derby and I was thrilled to see the draft horse pull back this year. Those horses are AMAZING!!! I’m interested in checking out the country line dancing that’s new this year, too.

My plan is to sit down the Monday before the fair and highlight everything that I want to check out this year so I don’t miss anything. There are so many new things this year for kids through seniors that you really need to check out the line-up.

I have so many fond memories of the fair growing up and still continue to have them each and every year. I can only hope that the fair continues so my niece and nephews can have those same memories.

The fair can’t continue without each and every person in Henry County supporting it. The fair board has done a tremendous job this year! I hope the people of Henry County step up to the plate and head out to the fair with their families to make memories and enjoy all that the fair board has planned for us this year!

Now we’re asking people to tell us what they would be willing to do, if it reduced our need for oil, and allowed us to do less offshore drilling.

Drop off a written, signed, response at the office, 119 West Exchange Street, or mail your response to P.O. Box 152, Cambridge IL 61238. Or e-mail your thoughts to chronicle@geneseorepublic.com. Be sure to include your name and the town where you live now.

The deadline is 11 a.m. Tuesday.

If you have a question that should be asked, let us know.
